Celebrating Women in Gaming: Joining Girl Scouts Troop 6000 for World Thinking Day

At Board Games for the Better, we are committed to celebrating the diverse voices and talents that make the gaming community thrive. Recently, we had the honor of participating in the Girl Scouts Troop 6000’s World Thinking Day Celebration—a special event that encourages exploration of global issues, including gender equality, while also providing a platform to showcase the incredible contributions of women in various industries, including gaming. As advocates for inclusivity and empowerment, we knew we had to be a part of this inspiring occasion.

For the event, we brought a curated selection of games that highlight the remarkable work of women in the board gaming industry. From game design to illustration, women have made significant contributions to this male-dominated hobby, and it was our pleasure to showcase their talents.

One of the standout games we featured was "Her Story," donated by Underdog Games—a game that celebrates powerful women in history. Not only does "Her Story" provide a fun and engaging experience, but it also educates players about the impactful contributions of women throughout history.

In addition to "Her Story," we highlighted other games that people might be familiar with but may not know were designed or illustrated by women. Games like Jenga, Suspend, and Qwirkle serve as shining examples of the creativity and talent that women bring to the gaming table.

As we played games with Girl Scouts at the event, we witnessed firsthand the joy and excitement they experienced while exploring the incredible work of women in the board gaming industry. It was a heartwarming reminder of the importance of representation and diversity in gaming.

We are grateful to Girl Scouts Troop 6000 for inviting us to be a part of their World Thinking Day and for providing a platform to celebrate women in gaming. Together, we are breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and paving the way for a more inclusive and diverse gaming community.
